A Swan Dive off the Band Wagon

Last week I took a serious departure from my paleo diet and HM training.  There were pancakes and waffles for breakfast.  Fries and fries and polenta fries.  I ate cake and garlic bread.  I ran twice over the course of ten days.  I also went hiking in my two favorite spots.  I held a hawk on my arm.  I read a book that made me laugh out loud.  I finally watched the last Harry Potter film. I went surfing for the first time in my life.  I loved every minute of it.

Even though I could barely do anything with my arms for days after the lesson, I really enjoyed surfing.  The water was about waist deep and the waves were mellow.  I was glad to have a lesson because it took me a while to stand on the board.  I found a hundred different ways to fall off the board, but I had a blast.

Now it's back to eating good-for-me things and ratcheting up my mileage in anticipation of the HM in December.  I actually lost a couple of pounds last week (I did mention heavy hiking, running, and surfing, right?), but the mopey couple of days that came after Bobbles left involved a lot of not doing much of anything (and a bunch of comfort mac and cheese), so I'm pretty much back to square one.  I ran 3.5 miles today and cooked a bunch of veggies this morning.  I am NOT looking forward to the 7 mile run this weekend... we'll see how that goes.
